Medicare will provide you with a rebate for certain mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder, substance abuse and dependence problems, and Attention Deficit Disorder.  There are a number of other problems that also allow a rebate.  In order to claim the rebate you need to obtain a Mental Health Careplan (often referred to as an Item 2710) from your GP and bring the plan to your first session. You will then be entitled to six sessions initially, and your GP can extend this by another four sessions to a maximum of ten sessions per calendar year.
